“There are more new inventions nowadays and life has become easier.” My grandfather who used to live in the Djurdjura, told me that.

Do you know that people used to live in houses of mud bricks and inside them, they used to build huge pottery jars called Akufi where they stored food. Men used to wear a burnous which is made of wool. Women used to make them.

They didn’t use to prepare their food in metal utensils. They made pottery bowls which were put directly on the fire or into a clay oven and they used to drink cool and tasty water from the pottery jars.

At night, they didn’t use to watch T V; they sat by the fire and listened to stories. Early in the morning, men used to go to their fields where they grew vegetables.
