After publishing the above mentioned paper we discov-ered that by accident the last sentence from the Acknowl-edgements in the accompanied Ocean Science Discussions paper (“Spectral Studies of Ocean Water using DOAS” pub-lished in Ocean Sci. Discuss., 4, 459–489, 2007 by Vountas, M., Dinter, T., Bracher, A., Burrows, J. P., and Sierk, B.) was lost in the final revised paper. We therefore include now the following sentence in the acknowledgements of the pub-lished manuscript: “Funding for one of us (Bracher) has been supplied by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) project PASAT”.
