International Day on Monuments and Sites 2016

On the occasion of celebrating the 2016 theme “The Heritage of Sport” for the ICOMOS International Day on Monuments and Sites, the Hellenic National Committee is planning to organize several activities, in order to highlight the importance of the Day.

Please find attached the aforementioned activities, which are going to be implemented under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and the Hellenic National Committee for UNESCO.

On the occasion of WORLD DAY OF MONUMENTS ICOMOS HELLENIC will prepare on the topic of this year:

a. A relevant press release.

b. An informative letter to the schools on the subject of sporting ideals and their sites.

c. A special documentation in a poster version.

d. A public debate on Monday 18th April.

The main event will be an event dedicated to the ancient site of Nemea co-organised by:

WORLD PANGRATION ATHLEMA FEDERATION HELLENIC PANGRATION ATHLEMA FEDERATION WRESTLING HELLENIC FEDERATION

THE SOCIETY FOR THE REVIVAL OF THE NEMEAN GAMES

Main event:

1. The meaning of the International Day on Monuments and Sites 2016: “The Heritage of Sport”.

2. Demonstration of Pangration and Restling Games at the ancient stadium of Nemea.

When: Sunday, June 12 2016

Where: Ancient stadium of the archaeological site of Nemea, Korinthia Perfecture.
