Vol. 1. Steam and Hot Water Boilers.
The above A.S.A. specification has been reviewed as a basis for the preparation of a corresponding C.S.A. specification. All references to American Standards are listed below, with
information on eXisting Canadian Standards where these exist. Referenc'e is made also to ゥエセュウ which are pO,tentially in conflict with existing Canadian Codes such as the National Building Code, 1953. All specified t,emperatures are listed as a convenience in further consideration of this specification.

Miscellaneous 1. Sheet metal gauges
In the above standard sheet metal thicknesses are given in inches. There is no Canadian Standard on sheet metal gauges, although at present C.G.S.B. is working on gauging. The 1953 National Building Code refers to U.S. Standard gauge.
2. Pipe sizes
Weights and dimensions of nominal pipe sizes in A.S.A. B36.10 - 1950 differ slightly in the smaller sizes from those
Qf C.S.A. B62 - 1949 and C.S.A. B63 - 1949.
Pipe threads are presumably in accordance with セNsNaN B2.1 -1945 (no C.S.A. Standard)

There appears to be general agreement between the above two works, except as follows:
1. Scope
The N.B.C. requirements for Boilers and Furnaces, Section 6,2.3.2 apply to hot water boilers up to only 30 lb per sq in. operating
pressure (see 6.2.3.2.1) whereas the A.S.M.E Code referred to in
セィ・ American ,Standard, paragraphs 1.19 and 1.21, extends to boilers operating with 160 1b per sq in. pressure but with limiting
temperature o£ 25QoF. 2. Metals
The N.B.C. 'does not detail metal composition and sheet thick· nesses as does the American Standard.
3. Temperatures
Paragraph 2.11.2 in the American Standard permits a temperature which may be higher than N.B.C. requirements.
4.
ControlsThe N.B.Co requirements for controls for gas firing, Section
6.2.3.8.5 may be stricter than in the American Standard. Note, for example, the last paragraph of this section requiring shut-off upon drop in pressure with L.P.G.
6
-5. Location of manual shut-off valve
The N.B.C. (6.2.3.8.5) requires this to be "near the entrance to the room where the gas burner is 10cated.TI
The A.S.A. (1.12.1, p.4) requires this to be only Itreadi1y
accessible."
.
6. Shut-off valve for low pressure safetI
The N.B.C. (6.2.3.8.5) requires furnaces using L.P.Gas to be equipped with positive shut-off at gas pressures below
