TO INTERGOVERNMENTAL COMMITTEE FOR THE SAFEGUARDING OF THE INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE

H1drellez, is a cultural feast celebrated in Edirne for many years named as "KAKAVA Spring Festival"

organized by Edirne Municipality. Many domestic and foreign tourists come our celebrations and share our enthusiasm every year on S-6 May.

In consequence of our municipalities' efforts, "Selimiye Mosque" which is the most important figure of our city has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Also one of the world's oldest festival "K1rkpmar Oil Wrestling Festival" has been inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Nowadays, we endeavor one of the most important cultural activities called as "H1drellez" to inscribe on UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage We support wholeheartedly inscription of the "H1drellez", celebrated at the same purpose all over the world among communities but called different names, through multinational nomination file on the Representative List.

CULTURAL HERITAGE

Edirne Art of Photography Association composed of artists who interested in art of photography, has been organizing courses and exhibitions to promote Edirne and Turkey since 1980.

Edirne city has lives enthusiastically the tradition which dates back centuries in every fist week of the May. H1drellez is celebrated as a feast among the society.

H1drellez has become an indispensible part of the photography art in recent years. In order to take photos, archive and to safeguard the tradition many foreign and domestic photographers include the H1drellez rituals. Because of the ensuring the viability of the tradition is crucial, we as Edirne Art of Photography Association, support willingly the inscription of the element on the UNESCO Representative List as multinational file.

Thracian-Balkanic Turks Culture and Solidarity Association was established in 1996/Edirne. The Association basically aims to enhance cooperation and cultural dialogue between Turkey and countries from which Thracian-Balkanic Turks migrated.

For our community, H1drellez symbolizes the beginning of spring. People celebrate the beginning of spring with traditional and distinctive activities and rituals. We strongly believe that these celebrations are a basis for cultural mosaic.

In Balkanic region and Turkey, during the celebration of Hidrellez, people simply wish abundance.

We are the Turkish people migrating from Balkanic countries to Turkey enthusiastically celebrate this cultural heritage, being brought from Balkanic countries by our ancestors, in Edirne. We enthusiastically support submission of the multinational nomination of H1drellez with the state parties, and the possible inscription on The Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

We strongly believe that through the possible inscription, the awareness of H1drellez will rise aD.d the transmission to the next generation will be strengthened.

Edirne Municipality supports us in this process. We believe that after the inscription of the tradition on the Representative List Edirne Municipality, which provides opportunity to celebrate H1drellez as a feast, will continue to make efforts to safeguard and transmit the tradition to next generations.

Association of ICH Institution was established in 2012 as a civil initiative with the aim of raising social and academic awareness of ICH, research the element which are registered to National Inventory, activities for ensuring viability of the elements, publishing scientific essays and enhancing cooperation with the related institutions and organizations. We are carrying out activities about spring day rituals such as Nevruz, H1drellez, <;:igdem Giinii (Crocus Day) which are ICH elements, with the aim of safeguard, keep viable and disseminate of them at national level.

We have been participating Hamamonii Hiidrellez Celebration since 2012, organized by Gazi University Turkish Folklore Research and Application Centre and Altmdag Municipality of Ankara Since 2010. Furthermore, we are making fieldwork about H1drellez in national and international level.

We support the inscription of the Spring Celebration: Hidrellez in, the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which we actively participated the preparation and writing process of the multinational file. We think that the possible inscription will raise awareness of ICH local, national and international levels and encourage for safeguarding of the element.

TO UNESCO INTERGOVERNMENTAL COMMITTEE FOR THE SAFEGUARDING OF INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE

Aksu Village Women Cooperation Association (Aksu Koyu Kadmlan Dayam~ma Dernegi) has been founded in Kestei/Bursa in 2010. The association has 21 members as of 2016. All the members are women. The purpose of the association is to provide social and cultural cooperation.

The tradition of H1drellez is an element composing our cultural identity for us. H1drellez is celebrated each year on May, 6th with the purpose of bringing wealth, fertility and socializing the community/villagers. We, the women, founding this association have been making efforts to safeguard H1drellez that we have inherited from our ancestors. Related to these efforts, as the association so far, we have been organizing H1drellez celebrations under the well-known historical plane-tree in the village square where Mustafa Kemal Ataturk had made a speech. In these celebrations, we make traditional H1drellez soup and share with the participants in order to bring wealth, fertility and cure.

As Aksu Village Women Cooperation Association; we support the inscription of multicultural nominational file "Spring Celebration: H1drellez" on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
