Do you want to fast this Lent?

In the words of Pope Francis

™

Fast from hurting words and say kind words.

™

Fast from sadness and be filled with gratitude.

™

Fast from anger and be filled with patience.

™

Fast from pessimism and be filled with hope.

™

Fast from worries and rust in God.

™

Fast from complaints and contemplate simplicity.

™

Fast from pressures and be prayerful.

™

Fast from selfishness and be compassionate to others.

™

Fast from grudges and be reconciled.

™

Fast from words and be silent so you can listen.

Heavenly Father,

As I enter another week of my Lenten journey, guide me to the path that leads to

you. Fill my heart with gratitude, patience, strength, and peace as I strive to become

the-best-version-of-myself, honestly admitting my shortcomings and sins.

As I renew my resolve each day to become a better person, let me hear your voice in the deepest reaches of my heart. Give me

rest in you. Help me to accept others, showing them your great love instead of casting judgment. Stay with me through the busy days this week and remind me

that when I need comfort, solitude, wisdom, or guidance, I can always turn to

you. Help me develop discipline and generosity through fasting and almsgiving, and come closer to you through prayer this

Lent. In your name I pray, Amen.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN PREP?

LIVING STATIONS OF THE CROSS

Friday, March 25-5:30 St Lawrence Church Students in Grades 6 & 7 will be bringing the Stations to life with visual representations and meditations for today’s followers of Jesus. Come join us and bring a friend.

PREP LENTEN SERVICE PROJECT

PREP students are practicing the three pillars of the Lenten journey: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving through a service project to benefit Shepherd of the Streets. This ministry, located on Park Ave, in the Costellano Center, assists the uninsured and underinsured with prescriptions, medical supplies, eye exams, glasses and travel to medical appointments. They also provide hygiene items and have a food pantry. During Lent, our students will be collecting hygiene items such as shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, soap and lotion as well as monetary donations to support the work of Shepherd of the Streets. We are asking students to take part in this project by making some sacrifices and/or “earning” money to contribute to this important ministry and by praying for the families that are being served.

In Our Parish

Our prayers are with the family of:

Lillian Stopper, who passed away March 11, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St.

Boniface on Saturday March 19th.

FINANCIAL UPDATE

With so many things that are uncertain in our Church and world, I thought this may be a time for a little re-assurance.

From July thru February our numbers are:

NET INCOME St Boniface: $20,585 St Lawrence: $22,325

Neither parish has any unpaid bills. All of our assessments to the Diocese are current. No repairs are outstanding.

COLLECTIONS

St B: $ 323k VS $ 308k budgeted YTD St L: $ 139k VS $ 134k budgeted YTD Congratulations to both parishes! Considering that attendance remains about 25% lower than pre-covid times, people are being very responsible financially.

Still these numbers are not predictive about the future of a parish. Chancery is examining a larger mix that also includes attendance, numbers of baptisms versus funerals, vibrancy of ministries and the numbers of priests across the diocese.

So, for now feel proud and focus your faith on Jesus Christ. (Fr Bill)

(Use this prayer-form 5-10 minutes daily.

All you do is to give Christ the time. He’ll do the rest! Your Lent will be graced.)

x Find a quiet place.

x Relax; close your eyes if possible.

x Take a few deep breaths.

x Ask Christ to touch the center of your being.

x Slowly repeat a word/phrase to help keep focused on Christ within you.

x To end your quiet time, speak a prayer-form to Him from your heart and ask His blessing.

x Then, go forth with Him (and Mary) to share His radiant love in your world!

Walking during homily

You may be just arriving or returning from the bathroom with a child...but if it's during the homily...please wait before going to your seat.

It's incredibly distracting for the priest if you are walking toward him as he is speaking. So, just hold off for a few minutes. That will help him and the people who are hoping for a decent message.

GOOD FRIDAY COLLECTION

Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the Holy Land. Your support helps the church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education. The Pontifical Good Friday Collection also helps to preserve the sacred shrines.

The pandemic hit particularly hard the Christians in the Holy Land. Most of them depend on pilgrimages to work. In these times of crisis, the Pontifical Good Friday Collection is also necessary to meet the basic needs of the People of God still living in this Land where the Church was born.

When you contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, you become an instrument of peace and join with Catholics around the world in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land.

PLEASE BE GENEROUS!
