Preface

In February 2020, we had the pleasure to organize the 12th edition of the ZEUS Workshop in Potsdam, Germany. This workshop series offers young researchers an opportunity to present and discuss early ideas and work in progress as well as to establish contacts among young researchers. For this year’s edition, we selected five regular submissions, three position papers, and one tool demonstration out of twelve submissions for presentation at the workshop. Each submission went through a thorough peer-review process and was assessed by at least five members of the program committee with regard to its relevance and scientific quality. The accepted contributions cover the areas of Business Process Management, Cloud Computing, Microservices, Software Design, and the Internet of Things.

The workshop program was further enriched by keynotes from both academia and the industry. Niall Deehan from Camunda Services GmbH gave a talk about Microservices with the titleCommon Pitfalls in Microservice Integration and how to Avoid Them. Prof. Dr. Florian Tschorsch, TU Berlin, presented his research onDistributed Security Infrastructureswith the titleThe Dream of Anonymous Data. The best presentation award was given to Maximilian Völker from the Hasso Plattner Institute Potsdam, for his presentation of the paperTowards a Framework for Context-Aware Resource Behaviour Analysis.

The workshop was generously sponsored by Camunda Services GmbH.
