Abstract. - The anisotropy constant K I of Mg-ferrites MgxFes-x04 was measured by ferrima- gnetic resonance techniques at temperatures between room temperature and 100 K. It was found that a t room temperature the linear relation K I = 8 020 - 4 560 x Jm-3 approximately represents the data for 1.18

1.41, and possibly for smaller x . T o investigate the effects of cation distribu- tion samples were quenched from 973, 1 073, 1 173, 1 273 and 1 373 K. The room temperature anisotropy constant was found to be independent of the quench temperature within the limits of experimental error. The results are interpreted in terms of the one-ion approximation.
