Preface

The international conference on Curves and Surfaces is organized by the activity group SIGMA covering the topics of Signal, Image, Geometry, Modeling and Approximation, within the french applied and industrial mathematics society SMAI. It fosters interaction among mathematicians, engineers and computer scientists around the above topics. The previous conferences took place in Chamonix (1990- 1993-1996), Saint-Malo (1999-2002), Avignon (2006-2010) and Paris (2014).

The 9th conference took place in Arcachon between June 28th and July 4th, 2018. It gathered about 300 scientists, with a rich program alternating between plenary lectures and parallel sessions which included minisymposia on selected topics. The present special issue is composed of ten contributions from plenary speakers as well as mini-symposia organizers and speakers. We hope that it will be of interest to researchers in the various fields represented in the conference.

We thank the SMAI Journal of Computational Mathematics for hosting this special issue and the authors for producing excellent contributions. We also thank the referees for their many constructive suggestions during the reviewing process. Finally, we express our gratitude to all the participants of Curves and Surfaces 2018 for contributing to the success of this stimulating event.

Jean-Daniel Boissonnat, Albert Cohen, Quentin Mérigot, Gabriel Peyré and Tom Lyche.

Operating income for the quarter was $1.31 billion, or 15.5 percent of net revenues, compared with $1.13 billion, or 14.6 percent of net revenues, for the third quarter last year,

By introducing M -functional calculus we generalize some results of Brenner and Thom´ ee on the stability and convergence of rational approx- imation schemes of bounded semigroups

Our general strategy will be to reduce by a specialization argument (See Subsection 5.2) to the case where the base field k is finite in order to exploit the fact that, over

To fill some important gaps, this paper solves a multi-trip drone routing problem, where drones' energy consumption is influenced by payload and travel distance whereas

With respect to the AARC model, the reformulation method provides solutions with smaller bound gaps in a shorter time, compared to the RG algorithm.. When k = 1, the

Let us finally mention that our results could easily be lifted to Alternating-time µ- calculus (AMC) [AHK02]: the PTIME algorithm proposed in [AHK02] for explicit CGSs, which
