DRAFT RESOLUTION N° 376
APPOINTMENT OF THE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE INTER-AMERICAN BOARD OF
AGRICULTURE TO THE GOVERNING COUNCIL OF THE TROPICAL AGRICULTURE
RESEARCH AND HIGHER EDUCATION CENTER (CATIE)
The INTER-AMERICAN BOARD OF AGRICULTURE, at its Eleventh Regular Meeting,
HAVING SEEN:
Document IICA/JIA/Doc.261 (01), “Appointment of the Representative of the Inter-American Board of Agriculture (IABA) to the Governing Council of the Tropical Agriculture Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE),”
CONSIDERING:
That the Director General of the Institute, by means of communiqué SC/DG-053 on January 15, 2001, in accordance with current provisions, requested that Member States of the Institute that are not members of CATIE, to express their interest in nominating a candidate to represent the Inter-American Board of Agriculture (IABA) on the Governing Council of the Tropical Agriculture Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE);
That by virtue of not having received the requested nominations, the Executive Committee, in its Twenty-first Regular Meeting, asked the Government of Jamaica, the current Representative of the IABA to the Governing Council of CATIE, to accept an extension of its appointment until October of 2001, a request that was accepted by the Government of Jamaica;
That through Resolution IICA/CE/Res.360(XXI-O/01) “Election of the Representative of the Inter-American Board of Agriculture (IABA) to the Governing Council of the Tropical Agriculture Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE),” the Executive Committee recommended that the Eleventh Regular Meeting of the IABA, “approve the extension of the appointment of Mr. Roger Clarke of Jamaica to represent the IABA on the CATIE Governing Council, for a new period of two years;”
RESOLVES:
1. To thank the Government of Jamaica for the work of Mr. Roger Clarke during the period he represented the IABA on the Governing Council of the Tropical Agriculture Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE).
2. To appoint Mr. Roger Clarke of Jamaica as Representative of the Inter-American Board of Agriculture (IABA) on the Governing Council of the Tropical Agriculture Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) until October 2003.
