L’évolution des pratiques agricoles, répondant aux exigences environnementales actuelles, est aujourd’hui indispensable pour permettre aux générations futures de continuer à bénéficier des bienfaits des services écosystémiques. Cette étude a principalement mis en avant l’effet négatif des adventices sur la production de céréales à paille. Elle nécessite un approfondissement des différentes interactions et influences mesurées pour affiner les conclusions et/ou mettre en avant de nouvelles pistes de recherche. Mais elle a surtout mis en lumière une opposition entre maintien d’une biodiversité ordinaire et d’une biodiversité fonctionnelle. En effet, le processus de contrôle biologique des pucerons et œufs de lépidoptères au sein des cultures ne dépend pas des structures agroécologiques environnantes alors que la biodiversité, représentée partiellement ici, par la communauté de carabiques, en ressent les bienfaits. Un compromis est alors à trouver pour équilibrer les apports de chacune. Pour cela, l’agroécologie, dans laquelle l’agriculture française est résolument engagée, nécessite de mieux comprendre les processus écologiques sous-jacents afin d’apporter des éléments de gestion aux différents acteurs du monde agricole. Mieux on comprendra les écosystèmes naturels et leurs mécanismes de régulation, plus une réforme en profondeur des systèmes agricoles pourra se mettre en place et répondre à ce nouveau défi.
