La section 2.3 de ce rapport a identifié les insuffisances et les limites des statistiques actuelles. Les statistiques et les études ventilées par sexe sur les tendances dans le domaine du genre et des migrations font défaut, en Afrique en particulier. Les migrants clandestins, qui sont parmi les plus vulnérables, sont aussi les plus difficiles à recenser. Il faut davantage d‟études intégrant la dimension du genre et une capacité d'étude renforcée dans ce domaine, afin de disposer d‟une base de connaissances

pour l'élaboration de politiques migratoires informées et adaptées à chaque situation. De telles études pourraient permettre une meilleure prise en compte des contributions réelles et des priorités des femmes et des hommes migrants dans les politiques.

Recommandations :

Les agences de coopération en développement pourraient œuvrer au renforcement des capacités nationales Ŕ tant gouvernementales que des instituts de recherche Ŕ en terme d‟études ventilées par sexe et d‟analyse de politique afin d‟élaborer des politiques factuelles dans le domaine des migrations et de problèmes connexes comme l'aménagement urbain et l'accès aux services.

Les agences de coopération en développement devraient mener plus d‟études et publier davantage (ou soutenir ce type d'activités) sur le genre et les migrations internes et internationales, notamment sur des zones ou thèmes peu documentés comme l'Afrique ou les aspects sexospécifiques des transferts d'argent et les investissements de la diaspora. Il conviendrait que ces recherches et analyses sur les migrations intègrent les populations restées au pays. Les enquêtes sur les ménages doivent être construites de façon à refléter la mobilité et donner une visibilité aux migrants.
