Introduction

The following pages collect extended abstracts by those authors, who presented their currently ongoing research during the Work-in-Progress session at the eighth annual conference onPrinciples and Practice of Programming in Java(PPPJ)that took place in Vienna from September 15 to September 17 2010.

I would like to thank the reviewers from the PPPJ program committee, the authors for sharing their ideas with fellow researchers, as well as everyone at the conference whose participation in the following discussions made the session a success.
