. Association's objectives on both the African and world-wide levels and the recommendations adopted at the level of Ministers and Heads of State and Government in Africa.requiring the-Association to undertake studies and establish certain arrangements reveal "the need to expand the activities of the Association. This expansion, which will take many forms, wii.1 no doubt involve the Association's common- fund in ever greater expenses. It is therefore probably

timely to start giving thought, in accordance with the provisions of ■ paragraph (b) of the decision of the Assembly of Governors to revising and increasing the annual contributions which were fixed at 1,000 US

dollars per member.

7- In the opinion of the Assembly of Governors, the amount of the annual contributions might be increased to }.000 "dollars. The new rate would take effect- as from 1^74 and .would be paid during the fourth quarter of 1973, The. first sentence of paragraph (b) of the decision ' o±the Assembly of Governors'would be .amended accordingly.

.8. Furthermore, in order to identify and expand the fields of

activity of the Association to which resources might, be allocated •*

from the common fund, paragraph (d) of the decision of the Assembly

..r-o-r-Governors will oe amended as follows: '

11 (.d) The amounts available in the common fund will help to

defray the following expenses:

(i) Organizing meetings of the Association, the Executive

Committee and my other committees established by the Association for specific purposes;

1. (ii) Organizing seminars, courses and any other" training ■■

programmes of the Association;

(iii) Hiring consultants- and experts to carry out work ■ •

relating to the activities of the Association.

If the available funds dp not suffice to cover the expenses foreseen or incurred, the balance outstanding will be shared

equally among- the members". ■ " snarea
