Year 7 – French Enrichment – La Vie Scolaire au Collège (Poudlard)

Core task: Complete the tasks to create the resources for a presentation about school life.

- to create a timetable for Harry Potter or yourself in French.

- to describe Harry Potter’s (or another Hogwarts character’s) or your school day using the translation of Monday’s timetable as a model.

- to imagine you are Harry Potter or another main character and give his/her opinion of some of the school subjects with reasons. If you don’t know anything about Harry Potter, then you can do it for your self – give your opinions.

- to understand a description of life at school.

- to give a description of one of a teacher at Hogwarts or Parkfields - to describe the school uniform: paragraph or labelled picture - to create a list of what equipment is required at school

Extension: - to create a ‘Map’ of the places in school, in French: places in school - to write a teacher’s speech of the rules for the term

Core Vocabulary: - days of the week - opinion phrases - school subjects - times

- places in school - clothes

- physical and character description - school equipment

- rules

Hints and Helps: - use the vocabulary sheets, your planner and your exercise books to help you with the French.

- do not use a translator, it won’t help you practise the vocabulary,

grammar and key phrases we are learning in lessons – the purpose of this work is to reinforce, support and extend the learning you are doing in your lessons.

- do a task or two each week; try and match the task from the enrichment with the tasks we are doing in lessons

Key Skills:

Communication – listening, speaking, reading and writing.

L’école de tes rêves – à Poudlard!

(The School of your Dreams – at Hogwarts !)
