Preface

In the last two decades, we have seen a significant increase of interest in agent- based computing. This field is now set to become one of the key technologies in the 21st century. It is crucial that both academics and industrialists within Europe have access to a forum at which current research and application issues are presented and discussed. The aim of the European Workshop on Multi-Agent Systems (EUMAS) is to encourage and support activity in the research and de- velopment of multi-agent systems, in academic and industrial efforts. The EU- MAS workshop is primarily intended as a European forum at which researchers, and those interested in activities relating to research in the area of autonomous agents and multi-agent systems, could meet, present (potentially preliminary) research results, problems, and issues in an open and informal but academic environment. The scope of the event is defined as the scope of the International Journal on Autonomous Agents & Multi-agent Systems (JAAMAS), the Inter- national Conference on Autonomous Agents & Multi-agent Systems (AAMAS), and the European Association for Multiagent Systems (EURAMAS).

This volume is devoted to the eleventh edition of the EUMAS workshop (EUMAS-2013). It includes the abstracts of the two invited talks by Andrew Jones and Mehdi Dastani as well as a selection of the papers that have been selected for presentation at the workshop. EUMAS-2013 received 58 submis- sions. Each of these papers was carefully reviewed by at least three members of the Program Committee. As a result, 22 contributions were accepted as long presentations and 18 as short ones. A special session of EUMAS-2013 was de- voted to Logical Aspects of Multi-Agent Systems (LAMAS) and included 4 long presentations.

I would like to thank the authors who contributed to the workshop with their papers and presentations. Also, I would like to thank the members of the Program Committee for their dedication to the review of the papers. Finally, a special thank go to Florence Bannay and Val´erie Camps, the chairs of the organizing committee, whose help has been fundamental to make EUMAS-2013 possible.
