Anne Rivière-Honegger Coordinator

n CNRS research director - Geography Her research is divided into two main parts.

The first, "Water, space and society", concerns the topic of water in the Mediterranean region.

In the second, "Rural areas and the environment", landscape plays a central role and is seen as a key factor in analysing space. In 2004 in Montpellier, she co-organised an international symposium on "Assessing landscape, a necessary utopia?". Part of the UMR 5600 EVS team in Lyon since 2005, she has contributed to experiments on tools implementing various assessment methods and to current discussions on landscape via studies focussing on river landscapes and the related social perceptions, notably in the framework of the Rhône-basin study area.

Bertrand Morandi Coordinator

n Ph.D - Geography

His research focusses on river restoration, in France and abroad. In particular, he addresses the history and approaches of public action, local practices of working on aquatic environments and scientific practices and discourse. His study of perceptions is carried out indirectly, via an analysis on the use and definition of concepts. Research is based on interviews, documentary work and analysis of texts. His research, developed in discussions with management stakeholders, notably Onema and the Water agencies, applies to and is organised around the questions raised today by the management of water and aquatic environments.

n CNRS researcher - Geography

Her research focusses on the links between societies and aquatic environments (rivers and wetlands). A particular objective is to acquire knowledge on the perceptions, collective representations and social practices pertaining to aquatic environments. Landscape-based analysis plays a central role in her work. Conducted in the Rhône-basin study area and the Rhône-valley observatory on humans and the environment, her work contributes to current research on ecosystem management and recently has investigated the ecological restoration of rivers and biological invasions.
