SAD NEWS … we will have to say GOODBYE to three of our veteran trees which are heavily damaged and diseased … two are on the property of the convent and unfortunately the 3rd is one of the white birches in front of the church in the plaza you can see right through it and so it is dangerous … I would presume it has been there since 1970 when the church was built … saying good bye to the trees will cost us $15,000!

We begin the most important and solemn week of our Catholic faith the HOLY WEEK … you are invited to walk with Jesus through Jerusalem to the hill of Calvary on Good Friday to the empty tomb on Easter … you are invited to join with Jesus at the Last Supper on Holy Thursday as we DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF HIM … you are also invited to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Monday, April 11 from 2 pm to 4 pm and again from 6 pm to 9 pm in church … you are especially invited to our Easter Vigil which begins in the dark in our church plaza and then singing CHRIST, OUR LIGHT to enter the church with our own candles symbolizing the new light and life of the Resurrection … it is an exciting and inspiring week … many thanks to the many people who have been helping and planning this HOLY WEEK …. you are helping so many of our parishioners to enjoy the celebrations of this HOLY WEEK by your time and talents.

A MESSAGE FROM THE SISTERS OF LIFE … Walking with Moms in Need: … Did you know nearly 50% of women who become pregnant in the Archdiocese of New York find themselves in circumstances in which they would not have chosen to become mothers? Finances, jobs, housing situations, broken relationships, and other responsibilities can cause a woman to feel scared and alone when she is entrusted with a new life. The Catholic church is committed to supporting every mother in need. No one should have to carry these burdens alone. The Walking with Moms in Need initiative is a call from the bishops of the United States to make every parish a haven for pregnant and parenting mothers. How will our parish respond? This is the first message in a series on Walking with Moms in Need that will culminate on Mother’s Day.
