Yamoussoukro. Cote

A 4-week training course in gravtaetry is scheduled to take place in 'Yamoussoukro, Cote d-Ivoire, fro, 2nd to 28th March, 1987 as jart of

the African Gravity Standardization Net (aGSN) project with the

objectives stated below.

OBJECTIVES

1. To provide a homogeneous datum and calibration standard for the

unification of gravity surveys in Africa.

2. To promote the use of gravinetry as an effective tool in the search

for economic ninerals in Africa by traini^ ^^ geoac

with the necessary basic knowledge in the observation and

processing of gravity data.

To .a^ise the long tera benefits of the project to African nations, the omission for Geodesy in Africa win hold the above workshop to train a pool of African geoseientists who can perform not only the data acqui.itK»

process^ and analysis tasks hut also the many local follow-up projects net and to perform on-going network maintenance,

PARTICIPANTS

Interested young African geoscientists with the following .intauo

requirements are invited to attend the workshop.

(a) Quallfinat-lnnfl-

A BSc degree (or equivalent) in the field of Physics or Mathematics

or Surveying or Geodesy or Geophysics.

(b) Experience;

One year post qualification experience preferably in gravity work in Government or private establishments. Preference will be given to applicants nominated bv their establishments who ^ mdertake

cover the cost of the airfares of the applicants Wfro* ^oussoukro.
