Organizational Requirements:
Please identify (in the opposite space) the Inuit Health Centre or officially recognized Inuit organization Community and organizational readiness (able to participate in a developmental process and meet deadlines)
Please indicate your organization’s willingness to support facilitators’ preparation time for their pilot courses and provide information on organizational readiness
Identification of an available Regional Coordinator
• Please identify a Regional Coordinator from the community at a management/senior level
• Must be available to attend monthly, in-person meetings of 45-90 minutes in length

Ongoing commitment to mental wellness
Please indicate how your community will integrate Mental Health First Aid for Inuit into your mental wellness plans and strategy
Ability to support access to cultural advisors, Elders and knowledge keepers
Applying organizations must be able to facilitate access to meetings with MHFA staff and local cultural advisors, traditional knowledge keepers and Elders to support the development of the curriculum
Activities for November 2015-March 2016
Identify two available facilitator candidates for Mental Health First Aid for Inuit.
• MHFA is designed to be presented by at least two facilitators
• Please identity two facilitator candidates who are likely to attend the MHFA-I training in fall 2015
• Please include resumes for all candidates, including a standby for unforeseen circumstances Facilitator qualification requirements (for two facilitators):
• Understand Inuit mental wellness and balance
• Experience working with people with mental health problems
• Good teaching and/or group facilitation skills
• Good background knowledge of mental health and local community services
• Knowledge of Inuit history and culture
• Previous training in Mental Health First Aid, Basic or Youth, is preferred but not required
• Inuit person/individual with significant experience working within Inuit communities is preferred Capacity to support the implementation of the program
• MHFA Inuit facilitator training is designed to provide a five-day training as a basis for material
• Each new facilitator will require an additional 30 hours to prepare for their first co-facilitation of the program (binder preparation, practice time, seeking Elder support and participation)
• MHFA Inuit program staff will host preliminary meetings with partner communities to exchange information and bridge program goals
Access to training space, laptop, projectors and/or DVD player
• Access to a meeting space for a day for MHFA training, including a smaller breakout room
• MHFA includes DVDs and PowerPoint slides, so a working laptop, projector and DVD player is required to deliver the program
