Abstract
The city of Abu Dhabi is witnessing an unprecedented development since the 1970’s, time of United Arab Emirate’s independence and the beginning of its hydrocarbon based development. The demographic and urban growth is since a reality of Abu Dhabi. A series of development plan have tried to frame this growth. The “Plan Abu Dhabi 2030” represents the latest phase of these state driven planning plans. The plans project Abu Dhabi’s into the league of global cities.
This poster shows Abu Dhabi’s real capacity to become this global city inline with existing conditions of development and internationalization strategies of “Plan Abu Dhabi 2030”.
We will present Abu Dhabi’s projects of global dimension such as Saadiyat Island, Masdar city, The Capital District, and The new Central Business District. The challenges they are facing will be highlighted especially in terms of sustainability.
