Preface on the Third

Workshop on Evaluation of Human Language

Technologies for Iberian Languages (IberEval 2018)

IberEval 2018 aims at encouraging and promoting the development of Human Language Technologies (HLT) for Iberian languages (Spanish, Portuguese, Cata- lan, Basque and Galician), by creating series of evaluation and a discussion forum about Natural Language Processing systems on an ongoing basis.

IberEval 2018 is held together with the XXXIV Congreso Internacional de la Sociedad Espa˜nola para el Procesamiento del Lenguaje Natural (SEPLN 2018) in Seville, Spain, on the 18th of Sep, 2018. It includes the following six tracks:

• Disability Annotation on documents from the biomedical domain (DI- ANN). This track consists of the detection of disabilities in English and Spanish texts, as well as the detection of negated disabilities.

• Authorship and Aggressiveness Analysis in Twitter: case study in Mexican Spanish (MEX-A3T). This track considers two tasks, author profiling and aggressiveness detection, both of them using Mexican Spanish tweets.

• MultiModal Stance Detection in tweets on Catalan 1Oct Referendum (MultiStanceCat). The aim of this task is to detect the authors stances -in favor, against or neutral- with respect to the Catalan first of Octo- ber Referendum (2017) in tweets written in Spanish and Catalan from a multimodal perspective.

• Humor Analysis based on Human Annotation (HAHA). This track is the first challenge on humor appreciation in the Spanish language, and it proposes two tasks related to humor in language: automatic detection and automatic rating of humor in Spanish tweets.

(2)

• Automatic Misogyny Identification (AMI). This task proposes misogyny identification, misogynistic behaviour categorization and target classifica- tion both from Spanish and English tweets.

• Second Biomedical Abbreviation Recognition and Resolution track (BARR2).

BARR2 track has the aim to promote the development and evaluation of clinical abbreviation identification systems by providing Gold Standard training and test corpora manually annotated by domain experts with abbreviation-definition pairs within abstracts of clinical texts and clinical case studies written in Spanish.

The 2018 edition of IberEval has had a high participation, in total 118 par- ticipants shared out the different tracks, submitting 34 papers.
