The verb TO BE

Yes/No questions

short answers

Simple Present

Subject and verb change their position in statement and question.

Statement She is in London Question Is she in London?

NOTE:

● If the answer is "Yes", we always use the long form.

Example: Yes, she is.

We always use the short answer, not only

"Yes" or "No".

● If the answer is "No", we either use the long or the contracted form (short form).

Example: No, she is not. = No, she isn't.

Ask questions and give short answers:
