This is a table of correspondences of the mūlakārikās of the first kāṇḍa of Bhartṛhari’s

Vākyapadīya, among the following editions:

[Rau] Wilhelm Rau, ed. Bhatṛharis Vākyapadīya. Die Mūlakārikās nach den

Handschriften herausgegeben und mit einem Pāda-index versehen.

Abhand-lungen für die Kunde des Morgenlandes 42.4. Wiesbaden: Franz Steiner, 1977.

[Iyer] K. A. Subramania Iyer, ed. Vākyapadīya of Bhartṛhari with the Vṛtti and

the Paddhati of Vṛṣabhadeva. Kāṇḍa I. Deccan College Monograph Series

2. Poona: Deccan College, Postgraduate and Research Institute, 1966. [Lahore] Madeleine Biardeau, trans. Bhartṛhari. Vākyapadīya Brahmakāṇḍa. Avec

la Vṛtti de Harivṛṣabha. Texte reproduit de l’édition de Lahore. Publications

de l’Institut de civilisation indienne 24. Paris: Éditions E. De Boccard, 1964.

When a kārikā does not appear in the mūla text but rather appears in the Vṛtti, the kārikā under which it occurs is prefixed with the term ad. For instance, “ad 44” means that the kārikā appears in the Vṛtti on kārikā 44.

Kārikā numbers for Iyer’s edition are those he introduced while editing the text.
