FAQ:

Adjusted 2020 PCE Administration Schedule

Is the adjusted schedule now confirmed?

We are pleased to confirm that we are moving forward with plans to implement the PCE schedule we announced on May 4. This schedule is still subject to change based on federal and provincial health directives. Our team has been working diligently over the past three months to develop alternative

administration options—such as remote proctoring—that will provide candidates with a safe, fair and valid exam experience.

I already registered for an exam; do I have to re-apply/submit a new application?

No. If you already registered for one of the exams, you will be automatically transferred to the

corresponding new exam date for your chosen exam. Please review the tables below for more information.

Can I transfer to a new Written Component exam date?

Yes. Now that the exam dates have been confirmed, candidates can transfer into any exam administration with an OPEN registration status. As per our policy, candidates are not able to transfer into an exam date for which the deadline has passed.

To transfer into an exam administration with an OPEN registration status, complete the

Written Component – Rescheduling Form and send it to: [email protected]. Please note that your application will be considered received as of the date your rescheduling form was received, not the date your original application was received. Please note that this could affect your ability to confirm a seat at a physical test centre if capacity becomes an issue.

I see that registration for Clinical Component A has reopened—can I transfer from Exam B to Exam A?

Yes. Candidates registered for Clinical Component B may transfer to Clinical Component A, free of charge.

Please complete the Clinical Component – Rescheduling Form and send it to [email protected].

Please note that your application will be considered received as of the date your rescheduling form was received, not the date your original application was received. Please note that this could affect your site assignment.

As a Canadian-educated Physiotherapist, am I eligible to transfer from Exam B to Exam A?

To attempt the Clinical Component of the PCE, Canadian-educated candidates must have completed their full course of study and be eligible for graduation. Please contact your Program Director to find out if you will have completed your full course of study prior to the date of Exam A.

As an Internationally-educated Physiotherapist, am I eligible to transfer from Exam B to Exam A?

Internationally-educated candidates may transfer to Exam A if they are registered to challenge the Written Component before the date of Exam A date and/or have already passed the Written Component.

How do I withdraw from the Written and/or Clinical Component?

To withdraw from an exam for which you are currently registered, send an email including your full name, the exam date, and a clear request to withdraw to: [email protected]. CAPR will process a full refund to your attention. You will not be charged a withdrawal fee.

Can I schedule my seat/spot on the Prometric site?

It is currently not possible to schedule or reschedule your exam through Prometric. This applies both to exams being scheduled in physical test centres and through remote proctoring. We are currently working with Prometric to confirm capacity in test centres and implement the remote proctoring option. All registered candidates will be contacted about the scheduling process well ahead of their exam date.

If I choose to write the exam in a physical test centre, will my preferred site be open/available?

We don’t know yet. The availability of exam sites and seats will be heavily dependent on the provincial and federal health directives in place at the time of each exam. We expect significantly reduced capacity at Prometric exam sites due to physical distancing measures intended to keep candidates safe. We will have a better idea about the availability of exam sites and seats as provinces continue to reopen in the coming weeks and months.

Can I re-rank my Exam A (November 15, 2020 Clinical Component) site preferences?

No—not at this time. We are not currently allowing site ranking/preference changes due to the uncertainty of site availability. Once we know which sites are available for Exam A (November 15, 2020), we will notify candidates. At that time, candidates will have the option to re-rank their site preferences.

I’m not sure if I can get a passport photo taken for my application right now; what do I do?

Now that provinces are slowly beginning to reopen, it should again be possible to obtain a passport photo.

Starting Monday, June 29, 2020, applications that arrive at our office without a required photo will be returned to the candidate via regular mail. If you are required to submit a photo, please ensure it arrives attached to your application.

My credentialling eligibility is going to expire before the new exam date; what should I do?

CAPR will work with all such applicants to arrange a suitable extension, considering the irregular circumstances. Please contact our credentialling team at: [email protected].
