.£. The Conference requested the ECA to complete as soon as possible the studies it had promised'for the Lagos Conference on: ' -.

3, The Conference" decided that the next meeting, initially planned

. for April 1964., will be held in Bamako between June and September 1964.

The work will include!

(a) The reports indicated in paragraph 2 above, drawn up by the ECA;

(.b) The report on the fertilizer industry prepared by the ECA for the ad ho.c conference scheduled for the spring of 1964? ■- "

(c) The following documents concerning the iron and steel industry?

- Laboratory studies of the possibility of gas reduction of the ores of Kedougou, Kandi and say respectively and

contact possibilities with the Kellog teamj

- The localisation of metallurgical industries at the site of the iron and steel industry or in "relay centres";

-, The connection between localization and transport system

(rail and water), keeping in mind the stimulating effect of the railway on the iron and steel industry. The states of the ■

sub-region of West Africa will furnish the experts, for study purposes, their transport plans for the years to conies

■. . ..natural gas and electricity). . ' . . (d) An" initial work report on the organisation of-the payments and exchange system as related-" to the co-ordination of- industrial , development programmes and on the possible standardization of

transport oostsj

(e) A report on' the ways and means of common financing and management

of steel-works to be constructed.

Documents (c), (d) and (e) will be drawn up by the ECA and the Working Party which prepared the reports for,the Lagos Conference. .The

assignments will be distributed among the experts so that even if the work is done separately they will be closely co-ordinated and produce

;a single report. The ECA is responsible for. this-co-ordination as well as for the physical performance of the work,-, . ... .

.. The Government of Niger will supervise the strict execution of this recommendation so' as to avoid any delay in the preparation of. the

documents. " ' - - ; -

5. It is clearly stipulated that the reports must be substantiated by

precise studies documented with figures ^ and based on -cost prices
