The Young African Lawyers Programme (YAL) established under the ClimDev- Afri- ca Programme have the overarching goal of strengthening African’s Negotiating Position and ensuring African countries get the best possible deal under the UNFCCC process.

The programme is providing opportunities for building the expertise of young African Lawyers on issues of climate change in or- der to support national responses to cli- mate change that involves the formulation of policies, strategies and laws.

YAL members are closely following the 2015 climate negotiations and current- ly providing legal support to the African Group of Negotiators that has given them the unique opportunity in interacting and interpolating with the text of the negotia- tions and acquiring some lessons to share of the process.

The session will thus, allow for sharing of the viewpoints of the Young African Lawyers currently backstopping the lead coordina- tors of the African Group of Negotiators (AGN), with the drafting of the negotiation text in the buildup to Paris Climate Summit.
