John Perry est professeur de philosophie à l'université de Sanford aux États-Unis. Il est spécialisé dans les sciences du langage. Il a publié sept livres centrés sur l'identité et le savoir.
Il est spécialisé dans la vulgarisation scientifique et anime aussi une émission de radio. Son essai sur le procrastination publié en 2011 a reçu le Prix Nobel IG de littérature, une parodie du célèbre Prix.
