This position is for a Full Time Hospital Physician in Pathology Department to be based at the (University Hospitals of Marseille) AP-
HM and is available immediately.
Description of the position:
The proposed position is intended for a full-time hospital physician participating in a cross-disciplinary pathology activity within the AP-HM’s Pathology (ACP) Department at the Hospital Nord (North Hospital), Pole of Biology-Pathology, Chemin des Bourrely, 13015 Marseille.
The activity concerns in particular the sectors of Gastroenterology, Thoracic Pathology, Gyneco-Pathology, and Uropathology. A public appointment or statutory office would be possible and the AP-HM might provide furnished accommodation to assist with the initial settlement conditions. At least an intermediate level of French linguage is required as a CE diploma.
This position is part of a project to reorganise the Pathology Departments within the AP-HM with the Department of the Timone Hospital.
The North department has a balanced activity on the mentioned sectors and has a referral activity in specialized mesothelial pathologies. The Uro-Nephropathology, Soft Tissue Pathology, Foetopathology, Dermatopathology and Neuropathology referral activities are currently located within the Timone University Hospital department.
20,000 patient files/year are analysed at the North Hospital with a majority of Histopathology activity, also including 400 extemporaneous examinations/year. The ACP services are being reorganised with the opening of a Molecular Biology platform at the Biogenopôle, Timone University Hospital, at the beginning of 2023. The current molecular biology activity includes FISH, digital-PCR, and Methylome techniques located on the Timone site.
On 01-01-2022, the medical team at the North site will consist of: 2 MCU-PHs, 1.6 PHs (+ a position to be filled), 1 AHU, and 4 interns). Activities are currently shared with the Timone ACP service and are part of a digital pathology project for the services.
