APPLICATION BY THE DELEGATES OF THE TWELVE STATES OF THE AFRICAN AND MALAGASY UNION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF RELATIONS BETWEEN THE ECONOMIC COMMISSION FOR AFRICA AUD THE AFRICAN AND MALAGASY ORGANIZATION FOR ECONOMIC CO-OPERATION

The Executive Secretary liaa received the following communication from the Members of 1'Union Africaine et Malgache, which the Commission agreed to consider as an item of the Agenda. The communication is circulated for the information of the Commission.

Considering the letter of 3 January 1962 in which the Seorstary- General of the African and Malagasy Organization for Economic Co-operation

(OAMCE) requested the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) to invite the African and Malagasy Organization for Eoonomic Co-operation to participate in all the meetings organized "by the Economic Commission for Africa,

Considering the letter of 30 January 1962 in which the Executive Secretary of the ECA replied to the Seoretary~Q-eneral of the OAMCE indicating the procedure to "be followed in accordance with operative paragraphs 2 and 3 of resolution I on relations with inter-governmental organizations adopted "by the Commission at its first session under which the Executive Seoretary is requested to seek to establish appropriate arrangements for liaison with inter-governmental organizations, and to report to the Commission with respect to such organization operating

in Africa.

We the undersigned representatives of the States of the

African and Malagasy Union have the honour to request the Executive Secretary of the ECA to submit to the Commission, during the present session, this request of the twelve States of the African and Malagasy Union that the Commission establish relations with the OAMCE as an inter

governmental organization.
