PROGRAM COURSES

PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS COMMUNICATION AND NETWORKING (40 HOURS)

Your ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in the workplace influences your opportunities for advancement. The demand for specialized language and intercultural communi- cation skills is steadily growing in today’s global marketplace.

You need more than technical expertise to succeed. You need excellent professional, interpersonal and social skills to direct others’ activities to attain organizational goals.

In this course, students will acquire techniques and strategies for successful cross-cultural, business and professional commu- nication and networking in English.

FUNDAMENTALS OF BUSINESS (20 HOURS) This course provides students with an overview and under- standing of business fundamentals, including basic concepts in Management, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources and Sales Management. The course will examine management theory and its practical application in a business environment and critical factors in developing and operating a business.

FUNDAMENTALS OF ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR (20 HOURS)

As organizations continue to globalize and diversify their client and employee bases, a critical resource for achieving success is talent: smart, sophisticated business people who are technologi- cally literate, globally astute, and operationally agile.

In this course, students will study the complexities of human behavior in an organizational context with an emphasis on:

motivation, communication, leadership, negotiation, and group dynamics.

WHAT WE DO FOR YOU

We have experienced teaching faculty with hands-on expertise.

Instructors are accessible before and after class, by appointment, or online through myCourses to guide your studies.

Each student is provided with required course materials and will have access to McGill University’s personalized online student interface, myCourses, and the university’s web-based, information system, Minerva.

McGill is responsible for program development and design, project coordination, program monitoring, administrative support, student registration, letters of invitation, and lodging reservations.

Students successfully completing the program will receive a McGill University Certificate of Attestation.

PROGRAM FEE

Total program fee, including student residence with all meals, is CAD $5,500. This fee includes:

PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

BILL 65: The Act Respecting Access to Information Held by Public Bodies and the Protection of Personal Information.

Personal information is protected by legislation in the Province of Quebec. The provisions of this statute are such that discussion about a student’s application file, or access to that file, is restricted to the applicant involved. Other persons or organizations can have access to information pertaining to a student’s application only if the student has provided the School of Continuing Studies with written authorization which

specifies both to whom information can be given and the type of information which can be released.

Certain information gathered by the University about an

applicant or student will be released to the following bodies upon their request:

a) the Student Association recognized by McGill University b) the McGill Alumni Association

c) the school(s) or college(s) which the student attended d) the appropriate authorities involved with the external or internal funding of fees

e) the professional bodies or corporations (e.g., engineers, dentists).

A student may oppose the release of information to those named above by completing an opposition form at the Registrar’s Office.

Officers and members of the University staff (e.g. Faculty officers, Office of the Dean of Students, etc.)

may also have access to relevant parts of such records for recognized and legitimate use.
