LENT
Lent is a preparation for Easter. Easter celebrates the victory of Jesus and our participation in that victory by our Baptism. Lent prepares us to renew our Baptism.
Lent imitates Jesus' fast in the desert. As Jesus prepared for His public ministry by 40 days of prayer and fasting, so we prepare for Spirit-filled life in Christ by 40 days of prayer and fasting.
Lent is a time of return and renewal. Have you wandered away from the Lord?
Fallen into sin? COME BACK! Has your prayer and your faith and your love dried up? RENEW!
In Church tradition, Lent is marked by 3 activities:
1. Prayer: Allow the Holy Spirit to put
you into contact with the living Lord Jesus [Why not come to daily Mass, or the Stations of the Cross in Lent? Or come on Tuesday or Friday mornings for adoration before the Blessed Sacrament.]
2. Penance: By fasting and acts of self-denial, let your heart experience your sorrow for
sin and recreate the openness of the desert within you;
3. Acts of Service: Imitate the Lord by giving yourself in service to those who need you.
[We encourage you to participate in the Rice Bowl Program or even become a volunteer in some parish activity.
We encourage you to come to our ASH WEDNESDAY TRI-LINGUAL MASS at 7:30
PM, where the parish will commit itself as a family to a Spirit-filled Lent. We also encourage you to come to the FRIDAY NIGHT STATIONS OF THE CROSS AND BENEDICTION, at 7:30 PM, as a Lenten practice. During the third week of Lent, March 22ND to March 26th, we will hold a Week of Eucharistic Adoration. One special aspect of Lent is that it is preparation for the Easter Sacraments. At many Sunday Masses, you will be asked to pray with those young people and adults who are preparing for Baptism, Confirmation or Communion at Easter in our RCIA Program. Come, live Lent with us at Holy Cross.

¿Te has caído en pecado? ¡VUELVE!
1. La Oración: Deja que el Espíritu Santo te ponga en contacto con el Dios vivo [Quizás la Misa diaria, o el Via Crucis, o adoración ante el Santísmo los martes o los viernes];
2. La Penitencia: Por el ayuno y actos de auto-negación, que tu corazón experimente el dolor por el pecado y que se recree el desierto adentro;
Además, te exhortamos a venir a EL
