Research interests:

• Numerical linear algebra and logarithmic potential theory: singular values of structured matrices, functions of matrices, superlinear convergence of the conjugate gradient method, applications.

• Constructive approximation in the complex plane: difference operators, Jacobi matrices, convergence of rational approximants, applications to discrete dynamical systems and crack detection.

• Numerics, computer algebra: look-ahead methods, semi-numerical computations, computation of matrix-valued rational approximants, fraction–free computations, normal forms, implementation in Maple.
