Press Relations (HQ 9140) P.O. Box 283 1000 EA Amsterdam The Netherlands. It has been fifty years since ABN AMRO established a branch at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport and the bank will remain at the airport for at least another ten years. The managing boards of the bank and the airport have signed a contract to this effect. Jan Peter Schmittmann, CEO ABN AMRO the Netherlands, elaborates: 'Our branches at Schiphol have an important added value for ABN AMRO. We live in an era of globalisation. Doing business internationally is increasingly taken for granted and air travel is part of everyday life. Our services at Schiphol are geared to the traveller's needs, the emphasis being on speed and a personal approach.'. Contact Press Relations. Pieter Verboom, Chief Financial Officer of the Schiphol Group, comments: 'ABN AMRO's general and financial services have become an integral part of our AirportCity. We are therefore happy to extend our excellent association with the airport for a further ten years.' Under the contract signed today it has been agreed that all ABN AMRO branches will be given a face-lift and that a Financial Centre will be established at Schiphol Plaza (to be known as the Financial Plaza). One of the chief features of this branch will be that customers can walk in without an appointment and receive high-quality financial advice. The Financial Plaza will be targeted first and foremost to the 62,000 people who work at the airport. ABN AMRO has had a presence at Schiphol since 1957. Initially, the only service available was a foreign exchange office, but the range of services has multiplied and expanded over the years. ABN AMRO now has eight exchange offices and two branches at the airport, where it carried out over 2 million transactions in 2006. Last year the ABN AMRO Preferred Banking Lounge was opened at the airport. Bank customers can not only spend time there in comfortable surroundings until their flight is called, they can also conduct banking business. The Lounge has access to Internet Banking, for instance, and customers can also take out travel insurance. Last year over 8,000 Preferred Banking customers made use of the lounge. The services provided by ABN AMRO at Schiphol consist of: 8 foreign exchange offices, two bank branches and the ABN AMRO Lounge 15 euro cash dispensers and 4 dollar cash dispensers 6 foreign currency exchange machines 6 sealbag machines 3 coin roll dispensers 15 cash card loading points The branches are open 7 days a week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. (in the summer until 5 a.m.)..
