PREFACE:
DWAI 2013 was co-located with AI*IA 2013, the main Italian conference on Artificial Intelligence.
DWAI targeted Italian and international Ph.D. students. The subject, A.I., was purposely kept wide, in order to foster communication and networking among Ph.D. students from different sub-areas of AI.
All authors of submitted papers were involved in the reviewal process of other submissions, thus providing a ’behind-the scenes’ perspective of the workshop.

• The invited speakers of the panel session (Pietro Torasso, Serena Villata, Guido Boella, Luigi Di Caro) for providing precious insights and perspectives on the topic of ’strategic guidelines for a Ph.D. student’.
