MARY AND JOSEPH AS OUR GUIDES TO CHRISTMAS WELCOME TO OUR WEEKLY PARISH BULLETIN! Our three- day Advent Mission and Christmas gala last Saturday night were very successful. Everybody was delighted to be part of these won- derful celebrations. Through them we have experienced some renewal and enthusiasm in our two-parish family. On this fourth Sunday of Advent while the four candles of the wreath are all lit, we truly feel that Christmas is drawing very near. Along with John the Baptist, the liturgy presents us with two figures to lead us in our celebrating the coming of the Savior. It's first of all about Mary, the mother of Christ, the Virgin whom the prophet Isaiah announced in the first reading: “The virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel.” We recognize that Christmas begins with the conception of Jesus in the womb of Mary because it was there that the Son of God became a man.

It’s also about Joseph, the husband of Mary to whom the gospel pays the highest compliment as it greets him as a ‘righteous man.’

That means Joseph was completely open to God; he had total faith in God's word and obedience to his commands. Mary and Joseph are our guides to celebrate Christmas the right way. Both of them were faced with enormous challenges to accomplish their mission. Both of them believed and trusted in God’s promises.

And God was there on time to support them. There’s no surprise if we are also faced with obstacles and challenges in our living the faith. Christmas has to be celebrated and enjoyed in the midst of the difficulties and sufferings which come our way as we follow Christ. May we too remain joyful and confident in God’s Word!

Like Mary and Joseph, let us rejoice in God who has done mar- vels for those who believe and trust in his promises!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU!

A VOUS TOUS: (French) JOYEUX NOËL!

(Haitian Creole) BON NWÈL!

(English) MERRY CHRISTMAS!

(Portuguese) FELIZ NATAL;

(Spanish) FELIZ NAVIDAD!

Fr. Massillon

22 Desanm ~ Katriyèm Dimanch Tan Lavan.

Lekti yo jodi an ban nou gwo lespwa: "Vyèj lan pral vin ansent, li pral fè yon pitit gason, e li pral rele l Emmanu- el."

"... yo pral rele l Emmanuel - ki vle di Bondye an avèk nou." Bondye an avèk OU!

December 22 ~ Fourth Sunday of Advent Today’s readings offer us great hope: “the virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall name him Emman- uel.” This name means “God is with us.” It is important that we remember this especially when the world is call- ing us to move faster – to shop more, to buy more.

Don’t let the noise of the world drown out what you heard in today’s readings. Amid your busyness this week repeat these words – “…they shall name him Em- manuel – which means God is with us.” God is with YOU!
