preservation
of boar semen,lmmediately
after semencollection and
examination, split ejaculates
were diluted with BL i or 1.!’.1!. withoutCO!, 3 . Io 9 spz/dose
of 3! ml, and maintained at -i-J5° C
in seale<Iglass-ampoules.
The number of motile sperm decreased morerapidly
with LV.T. than with B.L. i. The54 -day-non
return of the sowsand
gilts
was the same for both diluents when inseminations were done on theday
of semencollection. The
day
after, the NR decrease with 1.V.T. and two doses ofsemen/Lrl.
werc necessary to maintainfertility.
After thisperiod,
the results were notsatisfactory.
With B.L. iextender, fertility
was maintained on theday
after semen collection ; itbegan
to decrease on the thirdday,
but could be maintained with two doses of semen.

toapply
to artificial insemination.Thus,
anytechnique a110wing synchronisation

isinteresting.

toinjection
of hormone such asP.M.S. and H.C.G. The results of this
study
show the favourable effect of hormonal treatments :systematic
insemination of the sows before τookg (at
ageof 7 months)
onday 4 and 5 after injection
of 400 units of PMS and 200units of HCG led to obtention of 26 p. τoopregnant
sowsand a mean number of foetuses
exceeding
9 at 30days
ofgestation. These
results seem to bc pooras
compared
to those obtainedby
SCHILLING in τg!2, butthey
have theadvantage
ofsupplying
the minimum rate of
conception
to beexpected
inpractise.
