Important investment program will increase capacity and update technology to manufacture complete plate assortment. Mortsel, Belgium – June 6, 2008 – 8.30 a.m. CET Belgium-based multi-national Agfa Graphics has announced a 15 million Euro (36 million Brazilian Real) investment program for its Brazilian printing plate manufacturing site. Agfa Graphics expands the plant to produce the complete digital plate portfolio including :Azura, :Energy Elite and N92 Violet. The capacity will be increased to answer the fast growing market demand in Latin America. With this project in Suzano, Agfa Graphics confirms its global strategy to substantially grow its digital plate business. The Suzano project is part of a worldwide investment program that began in China, Europe, and recently also in US, with the aim of manufacturing closer to the customers.. Located in the city of Suzano, in the Greater Sao Paulo metropolitan area, the Agfa Gevaert do Brasil plant produces offset printing plates and chemicals for printing companies in Brazil, and the other Latin American countries. It now will be able to produce all types of printing plates for its customer portfolio, including the newest digital products presented at the drupa 2008 trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany.. “With this program we address the growing business potential of the printing market in Latin America,” says Stefaan Vanhooren, President of Agfa Graphics, “and it is a crucial investment to further strengthen our market leadership position in this region"..
