WP/RC14.R6 GENETIC PROFILES The Regional Committee

1. NOTES the advances m.a.d.e in recent years in understanding the genetic factors of a wid.e range of diseases;

2. EMPHASIZES the importance of studies aimed at determining the genetic profiles of isolated groups living in developing countries in the Western Pacific Region, and the urgency of such studies while suitable groups still remain;

3. RECOMMENDS that WHO should take the initiative in exploring the possibilities of such research and should bring this to the attention of qualified research workers in different countries and of the governments of countries where suitable communities reside.
