SIXTY-EIGHTH WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY A68/20 Corr.1

Agenda item 15.1 21 May 2015

Antimicrobial resistance

Draft global action plan on antimicrobial resistance

Report by the Secretariat

CORRIGENDUM

Kindly replace paragraph 11 with the following text:

11. Antimicrobial resistance (and particularly antibiotic resistance) is spreading, and there are few prospects for the development of new classes of antibiotics in the short term. However, there is today considerable awareness of the need for, and political support for, action to combat antimicrobial resistance. Support is multisectoral, and there is increasing collaboration between the human health, animal health and agriculture sectors (including a tripartite collaboration agreed between FAO, OIE and WHO1). The need for urgent action is consistent with a precautionary approach,2 and national and international multisectoral action and collaboration should not be impeded by gaps in knowledge.
