Award of the State of Kuwait Prize for the Control of Cancer, Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes in the Eastern Mediterranean Region

1. The Foundation for the State of Kuwait Prize for the Control of Cancer, Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes in the Eastern Mediterranean was established in 2003. At its twelfth meeting, which was held during the 63rd Session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean in October 2016, the Foundation Committee decided that none of the award nominees met the minimum score required for the award. The Foundation Committee also recommended that the Regional Committee revisit the scope of the Prize and the governance and membership of the Foundation Committee at its 64th session in October 2017.

2. A call for nominations was issued in 2017. The Foundation Committee will review all nominations at its thirteenth meeting, which will take place during the 64th session of the Regional Committee. The selected laureate(s) will receive the award during the 65th session of the Regional Committee in 2018.
