6. Budgetary p r o v i s i o n f o r h e a l t h education

The budgetary ; r o v i s i s n made f o r t h e purcose v a r i e s from year t o year a s may be necessary.

7. S p e c i a l u n i t r e s p m s i b l e for h e a l t h education

There i s a bureau of h e a l t h education i n tho Central Ministrv of Health. This bureau p r e p a r s s i n s t r u c t i v c posters. pamphlets, bcoklets and f i l m s on h e a l t h and hygiene t o s s s i s t the P r o v i n c i a l Smermaents and l o c a l organizations i n t h e propat;a- t i o n of h e a l t h knowledge a m o q s t t h ~ public. I n tho provinces, t h e r e arc; no s e p a r a t e u n i t s f o r h e a l t h education. The various branches of the h e a l t h d i r e c t c r a t e and

the f i c l d s t a f f a t the d i s t r i c t l e v e l c a r r y out the work.

8. Health education a s p e c t s of work o f other I ~ z e n c i e s

The medical s r c d u a t e s desirous cf having a p u b l i c h e a l t h c a r e e r a r e given t r a i n i n s i n h e a l t h cducation a s p a r t of t h e i r post-grodunte course f o r t h e Diploma i n Public Health i n the I n s t i t u t e of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine, Lahsre. The s a n i t a r y i n s p o c t c r s and h e a l t h v i s i t o r s are a l s o civen such t r a i n i n s , Thcre i s p r o v i s i o n f o r t r a i n i n g of teachors i n h e a l t h and hysiene i n tho teachers t r a i n i n i :

The s u b j e c t of hygiene has been included i n thc curriculum of primary and secondary educa- t i o n f o r educatinz t h e school population i n r u l e s of health.

11. Opportunities and d i f f i c u l t i e s f o r l o c a l p a r t i c i p a t i c n on t h e v i l l a g e l e v e l i n h e a l t h education

There i s a country-wide v i l l a g e - a i d programme i n operation. It provides a n opportunity of p a r t i c i p a t i o n i n t k !;i;nlth education pro&r--~.w a t t h e v i l l a g e levol.

I l l i t e r a c y , isnorance and prejudice amongst t h e v i l l a z e s a r e some of the d i f f i c u l t i e s which a r e now being t a c k l e d t o . M e t h e programme a success.

1 2 . Role of h e a l t h education i n mass campaigns

To a s s i s t mass campaigns i n r e s p e c t of malaria, t u b e r c u l o s i s etc., p o s t e r s , l e a f l t t s and pamphlets a r e d i s t r i b u t e d f o r dissemfnation of h e a l t h knowledre among t h e public. Lectures, h e a l t h t a l k s and radio speeches a r e a l s o given from time t o
