The equitable distribution and Africanization of posts in the secretariat Sponsored by: Burundi, Cameroon, Republic of Congo (Brazzaville),

Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa), Ivory Coast, Dahomey, Gabon, Upper Volta, Madagascar, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, United Arab Republic, Central African Republic, Rwanda, Senegal, Chad, Togo, Zambia.

The Economic Commission for Africa,

Recalling its resolution 51(rv) of 28 February 1962 on staff recruitment,

Recalling resolution 2241 B (XXI) of the United Nations General Assembly establishing a Committee on Staff Recruitment and Training to assist the 8xecutive Secretary in establishing and implementing a long-range programme of Africanization of ECA,

Considering its resolution 184(VIII) of 24 February 1967 instructing the Committee established under resolution 51(IV) also to study all

problems relating to an equitable and judiciously balanced distributicn of posts of responsibility on the staff, taking into account all the sub-regions, as well as linguistic considerations,

Considering report E/CN.14/CSRT/WP.9 submitted by the Committee and endorsed by the Commission,

Considering that the Committee's task is not yet oomplete, Reaffirms ~ts resolution l84(VIII) in its entirety,

Instructs the Committee onCe again to pursue these aims and to make specific recommendations to the Commission,

Reguests the Executive Secretary to dra~ up a schedule of work and to do everything possible to help the Committee in carrying out its task until the necessary balance- has -been achieved,

Invites member States to assist the Committee and .the Executive Secretary in attaining the objective laid dO'<n by providing qualified and experienced nationals for the secretariat,

- Ccngratulates the Commi tte';;- upon the ~ork acoomplished, 8xtends the term of offioe of the -members of the Committee.
