Surrounded by the Great Lakes, Michigan inhabits a transna-tional region marked by centuries of social, cultural, political, economic, and environmental interaction. The Michigan

Historical Review welcomes proposals for contributions to a

special issue on “Borderlands” that approaches the Great Lakes region as a transnational frontier or space, broadly construed. Articles to be included in the issue must be no longer than 10,000 words, including endnotes. Potential contributors should submit an abstract (200 to 400 words) as a Word document attachment.
