Sobolev Inequalities: Isoperimetry and Symmetrization Walter Andr´es Ortiz Vargas

The first part of the thesis is devoted to obtain a Sobolev type embedding result for Besov spaces defined on a doubling metric space. This will be done by obtaining pointwise estimates between the special differencefµ∗∗(t)−fµ(t) (called oscillation of fµ) and theX−modulus of smoothness defined by

EX(f, r) ∶= ∥−∫B(x,r)∣f(x) −f(y)∣dµ(y)∥

X

.

(here fµ is the decreasing rearrangement of f, fµ∗∗(t) = 1t0t fµ(s)ds, for all t>0 and X a rearrangement invariant space on Ω.

In the second part of the thesis, to obtain symmetrization inequalities on probability metric spaces that admit a convex isoperimetric estimator which incorporate in their formulation the isoperimetric estimator and that can be applied to provide a unified treatment of sharp Sobolev-Poincar´e and Nash type inequalities.

THEOREM 10.. — Assume that the system X of vector fields on R 71 is such that the identity map gives a homeomorphism between the Carnot-Caratheodory metric p and the Euclidean

In Section 4 we deal with the existence of radial extremals with critical exponent and finally in Section 5 we prove that there exists a radial extremal for every ball if 1 < q

This paper deals with generalized Besov-Laguerre type spaces defined on K and it is organized as follows: in the second section, we collect some harmonic analysis properties of

Among the applications of the Haar-Rado theorem, we quote the famous existence result of a minimizer among Lipschitz functions of the functional I whenever the boundary datum satisfies

For two-dimensional models, Le Dret and Raoult [21, 22] used Γ–convergence techniques to obtain a nonlinear membrane model from a three dimensional hyperelastic body, whose

In [7], Flucher, Garroni and MuÈller were able to construct an example of a non- smooth domain V, with its Robin function achieving its infimum on the ~ boundary; and then Pistoia

The existence result derives by the existence of a global classical solution in Hölder spaces, by proving some a-priori estimates in Sobolev spaces and, finally, by applying
