Composition of female pig fats :
influence of the genetic type (LF, LB or PP)
and changes during growth (between 40 and 100 kg)

Comparison
was made on thefatty
acidcomposition
oftotal lipids
in the leaf fat and backfat of femalepigs
from thefollowing
breeds : LandracePrançais (LF) ;
LandvaceBelge (LB)
andPietvain
(PP).
The influences of the energy value andenergy/protein
ratio of the diet as well asof the
growth stage
of the animals were also studied.The results obtained show :
i. That the breed has a small influence on the
composition
of fats in animalsslaughtered
at9
6 kg. However,
with the richest energydiets,
the fats of LB and PPpigs
were more unsaturated than those of LFpigs.

. That at
slaughter weights
of 4o and 60kg,
fats of LBpigs
were more unsaturated than those of LF and PPpigs.
From 4okg
to 96kg,
the consistence of the fats of LBpigs highly increased,
that of LFpigs moderately
increased whereas that of PP remained almostunchanged.

. That the amount of linoleic acid
supplied by
theconsumption
ofpig
fats is ratherlarge.
The increase of this amount, easy to obtain
through
the nutritionalfactors, leads,
however, toa decrease in the
technological quality

- few boars
presented strong

tojudges) ;

imputed
