Amnis. Revue de civilisation contemporaine Europes/Amériques, is asking for articles for the special issue “The role of the media in the spreading of knowledge”

coordinated by the Professors Dolores Thion Soriano-Mollà (Pau and Pays de l’Adour University) and Inmaculada Rodríguez Moranta (Rovira i Virgili University).

The aim of the issue is to offer an interdisciplinary space for reflection and investigation about the role that the media (newspapers, cultural magazines-paper and on-line versions, TV, Cinema) has played, and continues to play, in the spreading of knowledge:

1. How far did/does the media build platforms to spread high-brow knowledge? Does it respond to social and political projects?

2. How has the media helped in the search for a wider public?

3. How does the socialpolitical discourse use these platforms to make itself available to the lower class?

4. Strategies for media diffusion in Europe and North America in the 19th, 20th and 21st Centuries.

5. Journalistic and audio visual genres of the spreading of knowledge.

6. Study of the transnational cultural dialogues created by the relationship between magazines and the written press.

7. The role of cultural institutions (museums, libraries, etc) in the spread of knowledge.

8. Relations between publishers or producers and writers.

9. Reception and interpretation of cultural protests (visual, theatrical, cinematic, televised) in newspapers.

Abstracts (a presentation of the article in 30 lines) can be written in French, Spanish or English. They are to be sent to the following address before October 10th: amnis@revues.org. The author, whose proposal has been accepted, has to submit their entry by April 30th, 2015. The articles, after being checked by the scientific committee of the magazine and two external reviewers, will be published in the on- line version of the magazine, (http://amnis.revues.org) in 2015.
