EB47.R57 Co-ordination with the United Nations, the Specialized Agencies and the International Atomic Energy Agency: Inter-agency Co-operation relating to Computers

The Executive Board,

Having considered the reports by the Director-General on inter-agency co-operation relating to computers;

Having noted the report by the Auditor-General of Canada entitled " Electronic Data Processing in the United Nations Family of Organizations—Volume I—A Concept for Effective Growth and Utilization";

Having noted the third report of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions to the General Assembly at its twenty-fifth session on the budget estimates for 1971 ; and

Having further noted the decisions taken by the Economic and Social Council at its 1725th meeting and the General Assembly of the United Nations concerning electronic data processing in the United Nations family of organizations,

1. REQUESTS the Director-General to continue to co-operate with other interested organizations in order to achieve an effective co-ordination of data processing activities among the United Nations and its specialized agencies ;

2. WELCOMES the establishment in Geneva of an International Computing Centre (ICC) in which the World Health Organization will be participating with the United Nations, the United Nations Development Pro- gramme and such other organizations as may decide to participate; and

3. NOTES that, while providing the Organization with access to a more powerful computer facility ensuring that the Organization's data processing work will continue to be handled speedily and efficiently, WHO's participation in the International Computing Centre will not require any additional budgetary provision for 1971 or 1972.
