RESOLUTION No. 464

FOLLOW-UP TO THE BIOTECHNOLOGY AND BIOSAFETY PROGRAM

The EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, at its Twenty-seventh Regular Meeting,

HAVING SEEN:

The report presented by the General Directorate on the progress made with the execution of the Hemispheric Biotechnology and Biosafety Program,

CONSIDERING:

That, by Resolution IICA/CE/Res.445(XXVI-O/06), the Executive Committee adopted the Hemispheric Biotechnology and Biosafety Program;

That the General Directorate of IICA has been implementing the actions of the aforementioned program with the support of Member States; and

That it is important that the Institute continue its efforts to secure additional resources for the execution of the program from financial entities, strategic partners and other donors,

RESOLVES:

1. To approve, and express its satisfaction with, the report on the progress made in implementing the Biotechnology and Biosafety Program presented by the General Directorate.

2. To endorse the efforts that the General Directorate has been making to forge strategic partnerships and obtain financial and technical contributions intended to help consolidate the program.
