Support for the development of an IICA Fablab for Agriculture

Since September of 2018, the Project Management Unit has actively supported the efforts of the IICA Costa Rica Delegation, the Information/Communication Technologies and Digital Agriculture Unit and the Directorate of Corporate Services to set up a digital fabrication workshop (fablab) at the Institute’s Headquarters, with a focus on agriculture. The project is being developed in collaboration with Costa Rica’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications (MICITT) and its Superintendency of Telecommunications (SUTEL). The plan is to establish the first work areas of this fablab by mid-July, to coincide with the visit of the Ministers of Agriculture of IICA’s Member States, who will be attending the Thirty-Ninth Regular Meeting of the Institute’s Executive Committee.

Support Actions

And we continue to move forward…

Green Climate Fund

In May of 2019, IICA became a member of the Communities of Practice (CP), a global network of climate change experts created by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), as a means of capitalizing on the latest climate expertise and increasing the impact of investments for climate action. Participation in this network has enabled the Institute to play a crucial role in driving transformative actions in support of the GCF’s mandate.

Moreover, IICA is still in the application process of becoming a GCF-accredited agency. This will enable the Institute to formulate and execute joint projects with designated national authorities.
